The Cambridge/Deerfield boys' soccer team's chances at a conference title took a hit on Thursday night with a 1-0 loss at Deerfield. "Thursday was an all-around crummy night," said coach Christian Ezell. "We were very confident going into the game, and from the kick off, we were taking the game to Lodi, but the weather turned bad in a hurry and we ended up delaying the game by about 45 minutes. Behind a 272-yard performance by junior running back Alex Resnick, the visiting Cambridge Blue Jays rallied to defeat the Westfield Pioneers, 19-15, last Friday night. | Runners turn in matching seventh-place finishes |
Two females from the Deerfield/Cambridge cross country team finished in the top 10 on Thursday to help the girls' finish seventh as a team. The boys also ended up seventh at the Palmyra-Eagle Invite. "It was a middle of the pack finish for both varsity teams but that is probably what we expected with a lot of new faces being acclimated to the varsity teams," said coach Matt Polzin.
